Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is Telemedicine?
Telemedicine is a fast and convenient way for patients to get in touch with doctors regarding their health. It is done usually via a phone call or a video conference depending on the situation.
With telemedicine, patients do not have to commute to the doctor's office, wait to be been, and delay their consultation and treatment; patients also save time and trips to their doctors with telemedicine when all they have is a simple question that can be answered adequately over the phone.
For example, if you are unsure whether you need to go to the emergency room, or if your cut on the finger requires stitches, our physicians here at Studio Med can help you determine those things with the help of phone consultations, pictures, and video calls. If you are traveling to or from another country and in need of a doctor on the go, Telemedicine can offer you the comfort of quality healthcare.
2. What happens during Telemedicine?
During your telephone consultation, our physicians will be taking your medical history and listening to what you are going through attentively. They will also ask detailed questions and guide you through identifying symptoms and signs to determine what your diagnosis is.
After the diagnosis, the doctor will then devise a treatment plan and explain it to you in details. If your treatment involves medications, they will be called in to the pharmacy of your choice or the nearest pharmacy.
In some cases, the doctor might determine that you should be seen physically, either because of the nature of the situation (e.g. a patient requiring stitches) or because a physical exam from a physician is necessary. If you are not sure whether or not you need to physically visit Studio Med or other medical facilities, give us a call and we can help you make the decision with our Telemedicine services.
